PROJECT 5  INTERNET MARKETING PROJECT

Internet Marketing Project for web development company wanting to develop into an internet marketing company.    This company has been developing web pages for over 22 years and began considering moving into internet marketing two years ago.

Today, the company has a vibrant Internet business focused on creative website design and programming, digital marketing, development for the physical web, mobile app development, shared and VPS hosting, email, spam filtering, co-location, DNS and ongoing site maintenance. They provide these services and manage mail for thousands of people.

They need help with marketing strategy. Specifically they want to have an outsider (you folks) look at whether it is possible for them to develop a niche in internet marketing that fits their background and skills.  If they can, how should they enter the market.

If you are interested, contact Warren Brown.  This project probably could use two students.

PROJECT 6  BARD'S TOWNE BOOKS & BOURBON

The concept is a poetry-focused bookstore and bourbon bar. For Nashville's poets, writers and literary lovers who desire a communal space to share and discuss their ideas, Bard's Towne Books & Bourbon is a poetry bookstore & bourbon bar, making a home for the spirit of poetry in Nashville. Unlike traditional bookstores, Amazon, coffee shops, bars and social gathering spaces in Nashville, Bard's Towne is a bookstore, bourbon bar and events venue all in one.

There are 4 poetry-focused bookstores in the U.S., and this is the first one in the south. This region--and Nashville in particular--has a rich literary history and a growing literary arts community.

The lady creating this business needs help with the following things:

  • I need some help tightening up my business plan and executive summary so that it's ready to present to investors.
  • I've found the building I want and am beginning an LOI, so I need to move quickly now to determine funding. I'm applying for loans but also have had some people express interest in investing in the idea. I could use help determining the best model for investors/funding.
  • I've started market research and could use some guidance testing a larger market.
  • Lastly, I simply need someone asking me the questions that maybe I've not yet thought about. I'm so psyched about bringing this to life, hosting our guests and leading a team, but I want to make sure that I'm crossing all t's, dotting all i's.

PROJECT 7  FILTERGRAPH TECHNOLOGY MARKETING PROJECT

Filtergraph has over 600 users in 50+ countries and has been used by NASA, scientists with leading geospatial and satellite organizations, and universities. In 2014, our team engaged in a customer discovery process with 100 existing and potential users, and we’ve discovered that there is serious interest for Filtergraph’s technology in the academic research, analytics, and data journalism markets.

We launched our platform one year ago this month, and you will play a key strategy role in sales and marketing for Filtergraph, including:

 Producing sales forecasts for Filtergraph (previous experience is preferred)
 Determining the size of the market for the platform
 Interacting with clients who may be interested
 Providing a strategy for reaching out to our market
 Meeting weekly with the team to discuss progress and future actions
 Aiding in the search for additional key personnel
 Coordinating meetings between key personnel as necessary
We are looking for someone who is passionate and enthusiastic about technology and its real world applications to help bring critical data to life.

Though we’re only asking for 5-8 hr per week, you will have a significant role on the team – not just sitting there taking notes and nodding along – and this would be a great talking point for those interviewing with tech companies and VC firms.
Please let me know if you’re interested, and I will share with you more information.

Sincerely,
Dan Burger Physics & Astronomy Staff
